So, it is my goal to start blogging. This is my third attempt in the past several years. I call this blog, "Portch Date" because porch dates are one of the best elements of my marriage. However, I will also blog about running, yoga, maybe work and my road toward a more simple life (minimalism?) I decided to write today because it was such a perfect day. For starters, we had beautiful fall weather. I was able to run 7 miles this omrning around the Virginia Beach oceanfront, my longest run in quite a long time, maybe all year. I watched my 13 yr old daughter (Paige) perform in a One Act Play Festival, along with my 17 yr old daughter (Claire) and friend Julia, thrilled that they wanted to come watch! This was a new venture for Paige and she performed quite well. The only down side of this day was missing my 15 yr old son's last soccer game. I enjoy watching Noah play; he is talented and displays good sportsmanship. Later in the afternoon I decided to do a little yardwork, which included filling our trash bin with items that we have not used in years, are broken, or we have in excess. That episode of minilism made me feel great today. Rich and I then had a porch date; see pic in this blog. Sometimes pics will include selfies, not this one. Again, beautiful weather and we enjoyed each other's company, along with our 4 1/2 yr old mutt, Charlie, who loves accompanying us on these dates. Made Pumpkin Waffles, with spiced apples for dinner, then kitchen cleaned up before 9 pm and a little pool with Rich, Noah and Paige. Using the pool table is a new activity in our lives due to roof repair in that room. These days do not come too often, so it really was a great day and my heart feels full as I write this post. Tomorrow is daylight savings so we will gain an hour of our day; icing on the cake!!
Blessings,
Karen
