Jumping in on Week #4 of Joshua Becker's Uncluttered Course! After shoving things into bedrooms, closets and our garage for a small graduation party this past weekend, I was quite discouraged. I've been delcuttering for over a year. So much has departed this house via donations, sales and trash in the past year, I could not understand where everything came from that we had to hide. Turns out, we still have quite a bit of "stuff" that we no longer value. Yesterday, I sold a second china cabinet, keeping the sentimental heirloom china cabinet. Today, I set out an armchair that we kept for Charlie (that's our dog! Yes, I love him dearly, but he does not need his own chair!!) Charlie has a seat on our couch, a spot on our King sized bed and an old comforter converted to a dog bed on our floor; he is quite content without the chair!
Had to fight past the lawn mower to drag out bikes for my younger daughter, Paige, and I to ride bikes down the boardwalk this morning. The garage is on the list! My husband, Rich, was making headway until the party popped up on the horizon and all of a sudden home improvements were needed, which added to "stuff" in garage and took time away from cleaning it out. That's okay; he'll get it back.
So today was the first official day of my summer vacation, as a teacher assistant. Tomorrow is Day 2 and back to the bedroom I will go, although I will be sure to enjoy some leisure time with Paige as well (and Claire, our HS graduate, if she chooses to be around us 😉.) Noah, along with his buddy Sam who moved to California last summer, are away at scout camp. Noah has been on his own bedroom mission, which I'll talk about more when he returns.
And yes, Rich and I took time for a porch date this afternoon. We had planned to drive over to First Landing State Park and watch the sunset on the Chesapeake Bay, however clouds and the threat of thunderstorms derailed that plan . . . another night!
Blessings,
Karen
